A warm welcome to Lindsey Stafford Counselling. I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in Chafford Hundred, Grays, Thurrock. I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework.
I offer a warm, friendly and non-judgemental environment in which to work with both individuals and couples. Sometimes there can be aspects of our life that can overwhelm our thoughts and emotions. These can often be as a result of relationship difficulties, bereavement, abuse or trauma. Other times there are no obvious reasons for our struggles or distress, or feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness. If you would like to talk about any of these concerns then you will find me easy to talk with and very down to earth. My therapy room is based a short walk from Chafford Hundred train station in Thurrock, Essex.
I recently worked in conjunction with Tavistock Relationships on a pilot programme with the DWP looking at the impact our relationships have on the family and damage conflict can cause, especially on the children.
For several years I worked as a counsellor for Mind Thurrock offering short and long term therapy. I was able to offer my clients support in gaining an insight and a better understanding of the psychological issue or concern that had brought them into counselling, whether this was because of a bereavement, loss, depression, anxiety or anger. Working in an integrative way enabled me to work therapeutically with each of my clients in a unique way.
In addition to Mind I also worked for CGL as an addiction counsellor based in East London. I was part of a large team that offered holistic support to adults both in and out of recovery for drug and alcohol addiction.
Through my background in Education as a Behaviour Improvement Coordinator, I have worked for many years supporting young people with severe behavioural issues to improve their wellbeing and attainment. This is a challenging and rewarding role. I have run anger management workshops which has had a positive impact on the young people I work with. Being able to provide a safe space for a child to talk about their anger and what is happening to them enables them to have a better understanding of managing things when they feel they are losing control.
I have experience of working therapeutically with children and young people with social and emotional needs as well as those on the Autistic Spectrum. I have attended many training courses covering ASD, ADHD, SEMH.
I am an approved CPCAB tutor of counselling courses.
